One World One Heart Event Giveaway

One World One Heart
Welcome One World One Heart Participants and Followers!  I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit.

My name is Amy Weaver and I'm a mom, grandma and aspiring, wannabe artist.  I started this blog as a way to share my artistic journey with friends and family and to keep myself working and accountable as I try to make art a part of my daily life and embrace whatever direction God has for me.
I am a part of an amazing online art community for trading all types of art but particularly ATCs or Artist Trading Cards called .  A lot of the work I do and post here is for trading with other artists in the community but I do try to do some other projects that will help me to grow in this journey and allow me to try other types of art.  I am always learning...always growing and as long as I can say that, I am happy to continue along this wonderful journey and hope that others will take the time to stop by and share it with me.

To thank you for visiting and participating in One World One Heart Event . I will be giving away this Hand Drawn/Hand Painted piece titled "Joy".  It measures 8in x 8in and was created using a number of mediums including acrylics, watercolors and various collage elements on a piece of matboard.  It can remain unframed or you can frame it to suit your tastes and needs.  To Win please leave a comment to this post beginning at 12:00am January 31st  through February 17th.

(You MUST put a contact email in your comment to be eligible for the prize which will be drawn on February 17th, 2011.  You may enter from anywhere in the world.  Your prize will be mailed within 3 days.)

Thank you so much for visiting and for joining me on this amazing journey!  Blessings!

Collage a thon! is one of the most wonderfully supportive, fun, encouraging and creative communities ever!  So many fabulous artists and just all around amazing people!  This weekend is a Collage a thon weekend at AFA.  I love these weekends!  A bunch of artists...around the world...creating and trading all weekend together.  They are always so much fun!

Here are some cards I make for the CAT this weekend.  Today's theme really made me happy!  Black, white and red!  I have totally flipped for that color scheme and am collecting and making more and more of it.  Tomorrow's theme...all things birds and butterflys and such so tomorrow will be fun too!

Trying something new

I've been working this week on a project that is a bit bigger than what I normally do.  Its a gift for a sweet friend who recently had her first baby.  Its a 12x24 in canvas...the largest I've worked on and it incorporates a lot of different techniques, some layered collage, acrylics, watercolor drawings and some quilling.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out and really hope that my friend likes it too.

I took pictures at various stages of the process to show some of the steps that got me to the finished product.

I really need to find a way to take better pictures of my art.  Anything I can scan comes out fine but I cant seem to take any decent pictures of the things that I cant scan.  Hopefully you get the idea anyway.

More Altered Playing Cards

Here are some more APCs I've made this week for various personal trades.  I'm currently working on a swap that is due soon and a gift for a friend with a new baby.  I'll post those as they are completed.

I also recently completed a swap that I was hosting at  The theme...of course...Altered Playing Cards!  So many fabulous cards were sent in and I'm so thrilled that so many artists there are catching the APC addiction!

Here is a shot of all the cards sent to me for the swap.

Back to my art table!

Did I mention how much I love Altered Playing Cards?

Cant remember the last ATC I made.  Okay...I can because its on here but I am totally hooked on making APCs!  I love them.  So many possibilities and I just love the look of the playing card as a backdrop for the art.  Here are some I've been working on for some private trades.  I'm really excited about them and feel like they are some of the best work I've done so far.  Certainly some of the most fun I've had!
